Rajasthan’s Bhiwandi has been declared as the most polluted city in the country. According to Times of India, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) released a report on Diwali disclosing the ambient air quality that helped to monitor the air pollution level in different cities across the country.
Located in Alwar, Bhiwandi emerged as the most air-polluted city while Kolkata stood second and Agra became the third most polluted city.
Bhiwandi has many smoke emitting industries and this contributed to its air-pollution. Diwali further worsened the situation.
The CPCB report released on Oct. 19, mentioned that the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Bhiwadi was 425 micrograms per cubic metre. 358 micrograms per cubic metre in Kolkata and 332 micrograms per cubic metre of air pollution in Agra.
