Animals judge on neither appearances nor species and have a deep sense of care for their own – whether it is their owners or another animal. They recognize and sense love in ways that humans can’t comprehend. This dog made a tortoise happy – how often do you see that?
Larry, the tortoise had a rough life before Christine Hill took him in. He was nervous and always tried to run away as he did not understand the idea of companionship. He was hurt a lot and Hill said, “When we rescued Larry he was being attacked by other tortoises and was miserable and scared.”
But luckily, her California home had another resident; a fury one. Cricket an adorable golden retriever showed Larry that this was indeed his forever home. Without realizing it Cricket made Larry feel completely safe and now their inseparable. They spend time together – from eating to sleeping.
Larry was shown the same love he had to offer but he had no idea Cricket would be his best friend. “He’s never tried to escape again!” said the mom of this cute pair! This kind of friendship restores the faith we have in humans to rescue animals and the never-ending ways animals make the lives around them better selflessly.
