A massive fire broke out at the Crystal Tower residential apartments near Hindmata Cinema in Mumbai’s Parel area on Wednesday morning. People in the top floors are stranded and rescue operations are underway.

According to a report from Hindustan Times, fire officials said that top floors and the stairs of the high-rise quickly filled up with smoke from the fire that started on the 12th floor at 8.55 a.m. Chief fire officer P Rahangdale said, “There is a lot of smoke on the 12th floor where the fire started, and the floors above. Smoke is logged in the staircase and all exits. Fire fighting and rescue operations are going on.”
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained and officials say that the situation is under control. Meanwhile, the residents on the top floor who were rescued have been sent to a nearby hospital for check-ups. Also, no serious injuries have been reported so far.
