With a serene view of a remote landscape and near the 12th-century castle of Montreal, visitors to the Jordanian desert town of Al Jaya can experience a five-star treatment. 64-year-old Mohammed Al Malaheem has turned a discarded old Volkswagen Beetle into what he claims to be the world’s tiniest hotel.
Even as his neighbours vacated the town in search of a more modern lifestyle, Mohammed Al Malaheem decided to stay back and converted his VW Beetle into a cosy hotel.
Furnished by his daughter, the repurposed car is adorned with handmade embroidered sheets and pillows decorated with traditional patterns and embellished with colourful beads.
The idea stemmed from Al Malaheem’s love for his birthplace and so he wanted visitors to experience the beauty of the area.
Accommodating up to two guests at a time, Al Malaheem claims that a stay in this VW Beetle is as comfortable as a night in a five-star hotel.
