We all admire our Bollywood heroes for their daring stunts to save good people from bad people on the reel-screen. But, how many of them actually make such sacrifices in real life? Well, Akshay Kumar or the Khiladi of Bollywood is one man who has proven time and again that he has a kind heart. Yet again Akshay showed that he is a real-life hero by donating money to an acid attack survivor.
There’s more to Akshay Kumar than just his martial arts skill, he is also known for his caring nature. Recently, an acid attack survivor and award-winning activist Laxmi Agarwal opened up about her financial condition and unemployment. According to India Today, she said that she was struggling to make ends meet with a low income as an activist. Hearing this Akshay immediately stepped in to help. He contributed rupees 5 lakhs to her.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, he said, “My contribution is a very small gesture. I am embarrassed to even mention it. The idea is that Laxmi should be able to search for a job with dignity, without having to worry about paying house rent or stressing about not being able to provide a nutritious meal to her baby. I wish people realise that when a person is in need of livelihood, medals, awards and certificates don’t pay the bills. It’s important to support through practical means.”
Laxmi was extremely elated by this gesture and thanked him and others who helped her with her support.
