Heavy snowfall in Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul Valley has left many stranded. The Indian Air Force has been rescuing people for four days now and has airlifted 26 marooned tourists today.
According to a report by First Post, the tourists were stranded for nearly a week in Chotta Dara near the Kunzum Pass area. Over 1,350 people have been rescued since September 24 as heavy snowfall in the region triggered colossal landslides and cut off road links.
The snowfall has also disrupted the water and electricity supply. According to the report, the State-Tribal Development Minister Ram Lal Markanda said that the rescue operation of 200-300 people stranded in the Saruchu and Darcha by air was being carried out on a war footing.
