Cinnamon has been a staple in Indian kitchens since time immemorial. Even a small piece of this sweet-smelling spice can liven up a dish, but many of us often overlook its uses outside the kitchen. Here are five life-changing ways of using cinnamon!
Plump-luscious lips sound like a dream come true but you don’t have to go under the knife for that. Apply a layer of petroleum jelly on your lips and pat a pinch of cinnamon powder on top. Rub the ingredients together and allow it to stay for a minute. The tingling from cinnamon will give you instantly plump lips. Wipe off the mixture and apply your favourite lip balm or gloss.
Mix 2 tablespoons of honey and cinnamon powder in half a cup of olive oil. You can add an egg to the mixture to thicken it. Apply it on your scalp and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse it off with a mild shampoo. This cinnamon mask promotes hair growth, however, the ones with a sensitive scalp should steer clear of this recipe.
3. Fresh breath
If you struggle with bad breath just chew a piece of cinnamon to freshen your mouth. You can also sip on warm cinnamon tea to get rid of the problem.
4. Skin scrub
A homemade scrub made of sea salt, almond oil, olive oil, honey and ground cinnamon can do wonders to get rid of dry skin.
5. Anti-acne mask
Mix three tablespoons of honey with one teaspoon of cinnamon powder. Whisk the ingredients together until it becomes a smooth paste. Apply this mask on your face for 10 minutes. Both honey and cinnamon stop the pimple bacterias from spreading while leaving the skin moisturized.
