Deep-sea divers have a lot of unexpected encounters and have to be alert and prepared for anything and everything. There’s always danger lurking in the beautiful scenes underwater! We enter the homes of creatures that have no idea why we are down there and there’s no way to explain to them other than approaching them in peace. Most times they have positive responses to humans but this seal was very happy and excited!
While diving in the Great Britain’s Scilly Isles, Gary Grayson encountered an Atlantic gray seal who was very interactive. Without much effort and seemingly all of the trust, the seal swam up to the diver and touched his nose. From there on, the encounter had a few moments of complete comfort between seal and human.
There was no fear detected from either species and curiosity between both peeked. As Grayson kept his calm, this beautiful creature flipped over, took the divers arm and put it on his tummy – and there begin the cutest bully rub session. The warm gesture touched millions that watched this video released on YouTube.
Ally McMillan who is the CEO of Seal Rescue Island described this encounter saying, “It really shows how sweet, curious and dog-like seals are.” Grayson’s job gives him experiences that are unforgettable, as he’s encountered dolphins and even sharks on his adventures yet he says this was something he’d always treasure. “It was amazing and something I’ll never forget – I have the video on my phone now and watch it all the time!” says the diver.
