This young lady has “green fingers.” She uses her passion and ability to grow champion vegetables for a worthy cause for the community.
Katie Stagliano was 9 years old when she grew her first cabbage from a single seed. This was one of her class projects, and amazingly, Katie’s cabbage grew to weigh an extraordinary 40 pounds (18kg)!
Katie then realized her cabbage could be made into a delicious soup to help fight hunger, so she took the cabbage to a local soup kitchen, where it was cooked with ham and rice. Amazingly, her cabbage helped feed 275 people. Seeing the result, she was even more inspired to grow champion vegetables.

At school, she was encouraged to plant and grow vegetables
Katie is now 18 years old, and has since set up her own business called “Katie’s Krops,” with the help of friends and the school chef. Within several years, Katie’s Krops raised over $200,000.
By 2017, there were over 100 Katie’s Krops gardens across 33 U.S. states. Katie loves gardening, and she inspires other children to experience the joy of working with the earth.
