Delhi police along with an NGO called Bachpan Bachao Andolan raided factories and rescued 39 children. Every day 18 children go missing in Delhi out of which 10 children are never traced. These kids are put into factories as labourers and girls are taken into prostitution.

NSP Tripathi, SDM, Rohini, told India Today, “We and Bachpan Bachao Andolan got information that there could be some child laborers in factories in Sultanpur Mazra and Aman Vihar. We immediately raided the factories on Monday and rescued 39 children. Four of the factories have been sealed.”

Bachpan Bachao Andolan  was started by Nobel Laureate Mr. Kailash Satyarthi in 1980 and it’s a country-wide movement campaigning for the rights of children.

India Today reported that till May, more than 2,396 children went missing in Delhi out of which only 345 could be traced. In 2017, more than 6,454 children went missing and 7,500-plus cases were registered in 2015 and 2014. In 2017, 363 boys of less than eight years were reported missing as against 217 girls.

Most of these boys are stolen by gangs operating in hospitals, public places and railway stations who sell them to childless couples the report elobarted. According to the report most of the girls have been sold to the brothels and such cases have been given a priority by the police.
